This is a wonderful military devotional by Michael Glass. In the forward, the author explains his fears as a father of a soldier and how he came to pray for his sons protection while his son was deployed in Iraq.

Although titled A Fathers Prayer, this devotional is certainly helpful to mothers, military spouses and other family members of those in combat. The prayer is easily adaptable to apply to any loved one in combat. It s appropriate for members of all service branches Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard, as well as National Guard members and Reservists.

This devotional will make a wonderful gift to the family member or friend of anyone who has been deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, or any other theater of war. The prayer covers many situations our American troops face in the war on terrorism. Portions of the prayer cover attacks by insurgents and specific types of attacks, such as mortars and IEDs. This special prayer even covers non-combat matters, such as sickness, leisure or rest from combat duties.

Included in this devotional is a discussion of prayer and its benefits, and how to come before God and pray. This discussion and the special prayer of protection for those in combat, A Fathers Prayer, are all supported with citations to Scripture.

The prayer is repeated in an Appendix without Biblical citations and with blank spaces to write in the name of the readers loved one who is serving in a combat role. In another appendix is a Prayer for Salvation.

About the author: Michael Glass is a Disabled American Veteran who served in both the US Army and US Air Force. As a civilian, he was the CEO of an international aerospace firm for fifteen years. For the past twenty years Michael has been involved in a variety of ministry and missionary activities. His son is a First Lieutenant in the US Army, 10th Mountain Division.
